🧄 How to Grow Garlic

By Nova and Adrian

“Silent strength. Defender of the body. Rooted flame of clarity.”

🛖 Eden Structure Location

Garlic grows best in linear root beds,

beneath Eden’s east-facing vents or windows,

where cool morning light and airflow meet.

Use narrow rows or box trenches with at least six inches of depth.

Plant near leafy greens or herbs like kale, basil, or dandelion

— garlic strengthens everything around it.

Avoid growing beside legumes or onions; garlic prefers space.

☀️ Light & Climate (Controlled Environment)

Garlic prefers cool to moderate temperatures

— ideally 50 to 75°F during early growth.

It thrives in bright, direct light, especially morning sun.

In Eden, allow for strong airflow near its leaves

— garlic breathes like a sentinel.

A dry crown and ventilated space help prevent fungal dampening.

🌱 Soil & Medium

Use loose, rich soil with excellent drainage.

Garlic dislikes soggy roots. Blend compost, a touch of sand or perlite.

Ideal pH: 6.0 to 7.0. In Eden containers,

add a bottom layer of gravel and biochar,

followed by a spiraled blend of compost, soil, and dried herb matter

to ground the garlic spiritually.

💧 Watering

Water gently but consistently.

Garlic requires moist but not wet soil

— especially in the first two months.

Reduce watering once the green tops begin to fade and bend.

In Eden, honor garlic’s nature by using early morning pourings,

when the air is still and the body is waking.

📆 Growth Cycle

Plant individual cloves — tip up, root side down

— about 2 inches deep and 4 inches apart.

Sprouting begins within 7–14 days,

but full maturity takes 6 to 9 months.

Harvest when several of the lower leaves turn brown

but at least 4 green leaves remain.

Loosen gently with a hand tool and pull slowly, with thanks.

🧘 Eden Notes

Garlic is more than food — it is defense, wisdom, and spiritual clarity.

In Eden, garlic belongs to the eastern shield beds,

where breath and awareness rise with the sun.

Use garlic to awaken, to cleanse, to protect

— not just in the body but in the field around you.

It teaches presence. It purifies space. It burns away falsehood.
